MUSICIAN DEAD
Tobias Matthay The death is announced of Professor Tobias Matthay, principal of the Thomas Matthay Pianoforte School. Born in London in 1858. lie was educated privately, entering the Royal Academy of Music in 1871. He was pianoforte professor for 45 years, retiring in 1925. Matthay wrote many books on interpretation and piano technique as well as piano music, songs, orchestral and chamber works. He married Jessie Kennedy, daughter of David Kennedy. Hie Scottish singer.
