Egypt To Resist Scaling Down (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) CAIRO. Dec. 24. Egypt would ne.er agree to the scaling down of sterling balances, said the Minister of Finance (Makram Pasha) in a speech during the Senate debate on Bretton Woods. Makram Pasha announced that Egypt had asked Britain to fix a date before March for negotiations on the problem of sterling balances.
