DACHAU TRIALS

Germans Allege Maltreatment FRANKFURT. Dec. 4. Two of 40 Germans on trial for Dachau atrocities complained that American officers maltreated them during interrogation. Alfred Kramer (who is not related to the Belsen commandant) said that he was under questioning seven hours, but maintained that his conscience was clear. American officers then beat him with sticks and rubber hoses until he broke down. Dr. Anton Whitteler, chief physician at Dachau, said that after a foodless day the Americans questioned him for more than seven hours and repeatedly yelled at him. “Swine, liar, murderer, criminal.” after which they made him stand under a glaring spotlight for six hours.
