SCUTTLING U-BOATS
Germans Assist LONDON, December 3. German crews helped to send more than 100 U-boats to their graveyard off the coast of Donegal last week. The “Evening News” publishes a picture of the operation which is known at the Admiralty as “operation deadlight.” The weather vs so bad that the first batch, which were practically new examples of the 250-ton type, could not be destroyed by explosives, so the escorting destroyers sank them by gunfire.
