THREE MEN BELIEVED DROWNED
Capsize Of Boat (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON., Oct. 31. A dinghy in which thl-ee men had previously been seen fishing was found floating upside down off Moa Point near Lyall Bay, at 5 o’clock to-night’ Though an extensive search was carried out before dark by a police party no trace was found of the three mem The identity of two of them has been traced, but late to-night the identity of the third man, who, it is believed, was the owner of the boat, had not been ascertained. The men identified were' S. Brooker, 7 Glendower Street, Wellington, and J. G. Lewis, of the same address.
A resident in the vicinity of Moa Point saw three men in the boat at 3.15 p.m. High seas were running and when the resident did not see the boat come ashore she telephoned for the police. While searching the beach the police noticed an unoccupied car parked at Moa Point Road. It was later discovered to be owned by the missing fishermen.
The police said to-night they had been informed that Brooker and Lewis had left home at 12.30 p.m. to-day with the intention of going fishing. They had not returned.
