OPEN FIGHTING
Argentine Students Strike (7.30 p.m.) BUENOS AIRES. Oct. 4.
The students’ strike flared into open fighting this afternoon when the police, armed with clubs and tear gas bombs, broke into the University buildings in La Plata in an effort to eject the students who had been barricaded in since October 2. A few minutes before the attack on the Argentine University, students at La Plata, Cordoba, Santa Fe, Tuchuman, like those in Buncos Aires, were firmly in control of all university buildings.
Buenos Aires students broadcast that they would hold out no matter what the cost.
The Buenos Aires correspondent of the “New York Herald-Tribune” reports that the police occupied the university buildings at La Plata and took prisoner 350 students. It is reported that hey beat up some professors and many students, including girls.
