SHIPPING PORT OF TIMARU

Activity In Coastal Trade

At the north side of No. 2 wharf the Waipiata completed the discharge of Wellington cargo yesterday. She is now lifting shipments consigned to Auckland by Timaru merchants and is expected to sail direct to-day. After leaving Oamaru about midnight, the Wainui will make an early start here this morning. She has general cargo from Hawke's Bay for this port and she will also load for Wellington, Napier and Gisborne, clearing for Wellington to-night. VESSEL IN PORT Wharf No. 2, N— Waipiata, S.S. 2826 tons (Captain C. Burgess). Union Steam Snip Co. of New Zealand, Ltd. EXPECTED ARRIVALS

NOTES Rain has delayed the Breeze at Lyttelton, and if she does not clear this morning she will not be able to sail before Monday as the watersiders at the main ports do not now work after Saturday morning. She is still listed to arrive here to load Wellington and Wanganui cargo to-morrow. The arrival of the Holmglen is also dependent on the weather. She is at present at Dunedin and is expected here to-morrow; Wellington shipments await her.

Scheduled to leave Sydney yesterday for Timaru direct, the Marie Bakke should be here by Tuesday. She will take a shipment of biscuits consigned to the Middle East from this port and proceed thence to Wellington and Auckland before leaving the Dominion. Wool, as well as other genera! cargo consigned to the United Kingdom, will be taken by the Ilissos, which is set down to leave Port Kembla, N.S.W., about October 13 for Timaru direct. She will be here for a few days, after which she is scheduled to go to Lyttelton.

Loading at Auckland, the Karetu is expected to clear about the end of the week, her call of ports being Wellington, Dunedin, Oamaru and Timaru. Auckland cargo will be loaded by the Karetu at Timaru. The Kaikorai is scheduled to leave Sydney at the week-end for Lyttelton and Timaru. Here she will discharge iron and timber as well as other general cargo; she will lift general Australian shipments and proceed to Dunedin and Bluff.
