The Japanese used human torpedoes fired from the decks of submarines in a futile effojd to turn the tide of war, says “Arahi Shimbun.” Large submarines carried six such torpedoes. Each tornedo carried two tons of explosive. Thev were guided bv volunteers. Thev could travel for 50 minutes at 25 knots compared with 40 knots for the ordinary torpedo.
