Accidents in Factories.— Preliminary figures for the year 1944 showed a total of 6582 (6171 males and 411 females' reported accidents in factories, compared with 7591 m the previous year states the annual report of the Department of Labour. The largest number of accidents occurred in the age group 25-34, the total being 1925 the next in order being 35-44 <l3Bll and 16-20 <10361. There were 14 fatal accidents 134 causing permanent partial disability and 6434 temporary disability The time lost through accidents totalle! 122.529 days, compared with 145.706 days in the previous year The imoimt paid in compensation was ”98.225.
