WOMEN’S CENTRE The annual report of the South Canterbury Women’s Bowling Centre stated that the activities of the season had been gratifying. The iriter-club games for the Ferguson Cup had to be abandoned owing to travel restrictions. The representative match South Canterbury v. The chamnion of champions was played on the Timaru green, nine clubs being represented. Mrs Marshall (Temuka) proved the winner with Mrs Kirk (Waimate) runner-up. The Moore Shield was won by Ashbury Club. The Christine Hanan trophy was won by Timaru, Mrs Minifie (s). Miss Stocker. Mrs Morrison and Mrs Chapman, and the Scales trophy by Mrs Sewell and Mrs Keast. ’ The patriotic tournament played on the Kia Toa green realised £ll/13-'-. Women’ bowlers organised a number of patriotic functions with such success that another £5B/7/- was handed to the Patriotic Fund, bringing the total to £7O for the season. Sympathy was expressed with the Fairlie Club in the death of Mrs Annan, who was a devoted and loval member of the executive. The executive expressed its appreciation to donors of trophies, to all clubs for the use of their greens, to the Timaru Club for the use of the pavilion, Mr Richard Wilson, auditor, and to all who helped to make the bowling season so enjoyable.
