U.S. Conditions Stated Ending Of Dollar Pool And Preferences Bv Telegraph —N Z Press Assn Copyright (Rec. 7.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 1. The United States will press for the elimination of the British Empire dollar pool and the virtual elimination of the Empire tariff preferences as a condition for granting large dollar credits to England, says the Washington correspondent of the “New Tork Herald-Tribune.” American officials do not expect these matters to be fully settled during the current negotiations, but it is clear that firm understandings will be demanded on these and other questions ot trade policy. The Assistant-Secretary of State (Mr William Clayton) is believed to have emphasised these points at to-day’s conference.
