PLEASANT POINT FLOWER SHOW

District High School Creditable Display Perfect weather prevailed on Thursday for the annual flower show of the Pleasant Point District High School. As was expected, the quantity of goods and produce for sale was below normal, the extraordinary season being mainly responsible. The show itself was highly creditable, and the attendance of friends of the school was excellent. Mr N. L. Bailey, speaking on behalf of the school committee, thanked the staff for their splendid work, special praise being due to the secretary, Mrs B. A. Smith. He also thanked donors, exhibitors, officials and workers. The show was then declared open by Mr J. H. Oakley made reference to his former connection .with the congregation, and to his fine example of Christian service. Farewell To Teacher The staff of the Pleasant Point District High School met on Friday to convey good wishes to Miss E. Cleland, who is leaving to be married. The headmaster, Mr W. J. Bennett, in presenting her with a pyrex dish, spoke of the excellence of Miss Cleland's work and of her happy relations with her pupils. Miss M. Price and Mr E. R. Brain joined in extending congratulations. In reply. Miss Cleland spoke of her pleasant years at the school, both as pupil and teacher. During the day her class pupils also made a presentation to Miss Cleland, whose future home will be at Cannington.
