THOUSANDS STILL IDLE
N.S.W. Strikes <8 40 p.m.) SYDNEY. Sept 27. More than 15,0(18 employees are idle in New South Wales to-day. The wharf labourers’ dispute over the use of mechanical equipment has been settled and the men will resume work to-morrow The Bunnerong powerhouse strike took a more serious turn, when the strikers rejected the New South Wales Labour Council’s offer to negotiate for a settlement. Fifteen mines are idle in New South Wales' to-day. involving mere than 3400 miners The c ; i loss for the day is about 12.300 tons, the biggest for some weeks. A settlement of the stoppage among meat enfployees at Riverstone is hoped for to-day. Still idle are 6000 ironworkers at Port Kembla. 600 at Bunnerong power station and 4000 printers. Widespread blackouts this, morning in Sydney suburbs interfer'd with hospitals and for the second time this week operatiohs had to be completed by natural light.
