Girls’ Marching; Compel i< ion.—Referring in the House last night to the value of girls’ inter-house marchine contests, tho Minister of Internal Affairs said there would be a national display next year with elimination contests in various centres. The first national competition would he held next year in Timaru. and the girls themselves would vote on -the venue of the next competition. His department was giving a beautiful cun for annual competition and badges for members of the winning teams.

Pensioners’ Association.—At a conference of the New Zealander Pensioners’ Association, the Mavor (Mr A. E. S. Hanan) brief! v welcomed the delegates. Mr A. Warner occupied the chair.
