Rival To Penicillin PARIS. September ’ 25. Professor Hollande, of the Academv of Sciences, reported to-dav the discovery of clitocybine, which is claimed as a rival to penicillin in its curative powers.. Clitocybine, is is reported, kills tuberculosis and typhoid germs. Professor Hollande said that clitocybine was extracted from big-hatted mushrooms. He found it 100 per cent effective in curing tubercular rabbit?, hut he had not tried it on human beings.
