Evacuation From Malaya

The following prisoners of war and civilian internees were evacuated by air from Singapore on September 24: Royal Navy and Royal New Zealand Navy; Temporary-Sub-Lieutenant R. T. Arkley, Wellington; Signalman W. J. Aspden, Auckland j Signalman G. G. Chennells, Lower Hutt; Signalman J. G. Evans, Nelson; Midshipman R. J. Rae. Auckland. R.A.F. and R.N.Z.A.F.: Pilot Officer H. J. Allard, Christchurch; Flying Officer D. C. Duff. Dunedin; Warrant Officer N. G. Parkard, Nelson; Flying Officer A. W. Phillips, Dannevirke; Flying Officer E. D. Rex, Wellington; Pilot Officer J. T. Tosswill. Auckland; Flying Officer W. P. Wellington, of Dunedin. Australian Army: Sergeant W. O. Wald, Onehunga. Civilians: R. W. L. McCall. Auckland; L. 11. Macdonald, Tauranga; B. M. Somes, Wellington.
