Meeting Of Committee When advice was received from the Director-General of Health that October 1 was the closing date for the 1946 post-graduate course, and also for a district nurses’ course, the Waimate Hospital Committee decided that the District Nurse (Miss R. M. Buchanan) should attend the course, which will occupy six weeks. It was agreed also that if a suitable candidate could be found who was willing to give a guarantee to serve at least two years at Waimate Hospital, she should be sent to Wellington to take the course. These decisions were made at the monthly meeting, at which Captain G. T. Hennessy presided. The return of patients for the month showed that 65 had been admitted and 58 discharged, while 77 remained under treatment at the end of the month. The average number of occupied beds for the five months ending August 31 was 63.1 compared with 64.9 for the corresponding period of last year. The steward (Mr J. D. It was decided to hold a Red Cross dance in October. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in packing parcels for men overseas who did not expect to be home for Christmas.
