NURSES RECEIVE MEDALS
Graduation Ceremony Sister M. L. Vyner, sister in charge of the Jean Todd Ward at the Timaru Public Hospital, presented medals to 12 nurses at a graduation ceremony hr the Nurses’ Home on Monday night. Dr. G. R. Kingston, honorary surgeon, presided and also present were Mrs Kingston. Archdeacon and Mrs W. W. Averill, the Mayor and Mayoress (Mr and Mrs A. E. S. Hanan) and the Matron (Miss M. L. Lindsay), as well as parents and friends of the graduates. Those who received their medals were Nurses A. Blackwood, M. Wilson, J. Currie, D. Struthers, M. A. Mitchell, J. Craig, N. Finch, M. Townsend, A. Langrish. M. Smith and M. Tue. Nurses V. M. Mitchell and Stayte. who were not present, will receive theirs later. Sister Marsh, the only one of the class of 10 who is still on the staff, received her maternity medal. The graduates then recited the nurses’ creed.
On behalf of the Timaru branch the president (Mrs Hanan)' welcomed the graduates to the Registered Nurses' Association and wished them continued success in their chosen career. Archdeacon Averill addressed the class, emphasising the importance of their work as nurses in the community. Before supper was served Nurse R. Cross entertained with vocal solos.
