WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST
FAIR The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation A depression is stationary west of Nelson and pressure is rising over New Zealand. Forecast Winds.—North-easterly winds, freshening at times on the coast. Weather.—Fair, though cold. Further Outlook.—Fair. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.ni. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 50.4. Min. temperature on grass: 39.6. Frost: Nil. Wind: N.N.E.2. Rainfall: .38 inch. Rainfall to date this year: 28.31in5. Rainfall to date last year: 18.46in5. Sunshine: 2.7 hours. Sunshine to date this year: 1321.4 hrs Sunshine to date last year: 1235.2 hrs IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka.—Yesterday was dull and cold with an easterly wind. The maximum temperature was 62 degrees and the minimum 37. Sixteen points of rain were recorded. The glass was rising last evening. ' Waimate (for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday).—Barometer, 29.5; thermometer, maximum 40.2, minimum 38.4; rain, 40 points; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 50. Yesterday was overcast and cool.
