PLANE MISSING
Dakota Transport Unsuccessful Search (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 25. An extensive search by 16 planes was carried out yesterday from New Zealand, Norfolk Island, New Caledonia and Espiritu Santos, | for the Douglas-Dakota aircraft of the R.N.Z.A.F. Transport Command which failed to arrive at Whenuapai yesterday afternoon from Espiritu Santos. The Minister of Defence (the Hon. F. Jones) said to-day that the aircraft was last reported at approximately 10 a.m. yesterday when a routine signal was received for position. From that time no word had been received from the aircraft.
