“MURDERED” MAN VISITS POLICE
Mistaken Identity SYDNEY. Sept. 25. The man who was reported to have been murdered in Paddington residential area last Tuesday is alive. He is Francis O'Connor. He reported to the police yesterday and complained: “A week ago I read in the papers that James Francis O'Connor and Ronald Connors, both of Melbourne. had been shot dead in a residence at Paddington, and that a man had been charged with having murdered them. I am James Francis O'Connor. 1 know both of rhe men who were shot, but I am not one of them.” The police then discovered that the name on the charge sheet should have been Henry James O'Connor. Arthur Joseph O’Keefe (30), a labourer, will appear in court tomorrow, and it is expected that the charge against him will be altered. Henry James O’Connor used a number of aliases, and among them was the name of “James Francis O'Connor.” This misled the police. The real James Francis O'Connor said that because of the mistake his relatives had received many telegrams of condolence, and his sister had arrived in Sydney from Melbourne to attend his funeral.
