OLYMPIC GAMES

Postal Vote For Venue LONDON. Aug. 24. A postal vote will decide the venue of the 1948 Olympic Games. This was officially stated after a meeting of the executive of the International Olympic Committee at which invitations to stage the Games were considered from London, Lausanne, Los Angeles. Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Baltimore. How soon a decision can be reached on the venue of the 1948 Games was not indicated, but it may be two or three months before the result of the postal vote is known.

Britain, which, but for the war, would have staged the Games in 1944, has a strong claim for the next series. They were only once, in 1908, held in Britain.

The Olympic Executive stated that invitations to the Games will be sent to all countries having National Olympic Associations which are accepted within the comity of nations.
