RICCARTON NOTES

(Special) CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 24. R. Wilson has two of bis team back in work after a spell. The three-year-old. Outstanding by Double Remove from Peerless, should come to hand quickly and it is hoped she will be at her best for the Oaks. Gamble may need more time but he should be ready to show good form by Christmas. M. J. Wadley has made another start with Vafort and wih get him ready for summer engagements. He is backward but he should be in good order for the New Zealand Cup meeting. He won twice over a mile at Trentham in January, and he should run on well over longer journeys. G. Elliot has St. Joachim in strong work and he may resume racing late in October. Fearless and Contusion will be H. and A. Cults’s representatives al. Ashburton and they are both well forward in their preparation. Though Confusion has not won yet. she has shown useful place form and she will contest the John Grigg Stakes. Fearless was allowed to drop out of (his race some time ago and her mission will be the open sprint event. Pandosto and Bootees have gone on well since they raced in Lb.e Cashmere Plate and V. Lee has them in good order for Ashburton. where Olga's Choice will also race. Supper, a three-year-old filly by Nightly-Tea Song, came in recently, but she will need time. High Counsel, a three-year-old by Solicitor-Gcneral-Delice. is back in A. S. Ellis’ stable. He did not thrive while spelling but he has started t.o pick up condition. F. Rosewarne is keeping Rampage to light tasks which seem to suit him, as he looks well.
