NAVAL MIGHT
British-U.S. Display (12.30 am.) NEW YORK, Aug. 23. A correspondent abroad the Duke of York says the British and American Fleets to-day staged history’s greatest aerial naval demonstration a few hours steaming time from Tokio. More than 1000 planes were airborne at one time. Many of them flew at masthead height. The demonstration was staged to keep the pilots in active practice and relieve the monotony of awaiting the signal to enter Tokio Bay.
War Criminals Sentenced The Moscow radio says it is reported from Bucharest that General Gineraru was sentenced to hard labour for life as a war criminal. Other war criminals in eight groups were sentenced up to 20 years’ hard labour. L'-Boats in Mexico Gulf U-lx>ats in the Mexico Gulf sank 35 ships 197,000 tons, damaged two and kflied 434 seamen.
