ASSOCIATION FORMED

Commercial Gardeners At a meeting ot whole and part-time commercial gardeners held on Wednesday, it was decided to form an association which is to be incorporated under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act, 1908. Rules were adopted and the following officers were elected: President, Mr C. A. R. Lidstone; vice-president, Mr G. W. Sides; management committee, Messrs T. Hogg, J. J. Hearn, J. R. Downs, L. E. Rendall, F. Hubbard and G. Brasell; secretary-treasurer. Mr P. S. Enting. Mr Lidstone outlined the progress which had been made in other parts of New Zealand, particularly in the North Island, evidence of which he had seen on the occasion of his visit to the annual conference of the Dominion Council of Commercial Market Gardeners, in Wellington. An address on the provisional organisation of the Federated Farmers of New Zealand was given by Mr A. B. Struthers. Messrs Lidstone, Sides and Hubbard were appointed delegates to attend the forthcoming meeting of the Provincial Council. Messrs Bowron and Mcßae. Waimate. were present by invitation as Waimate growers are considering the formation of a similar association.
