WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST
CLOUDY AND COLD The following Is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation A depression is moving east from the North Island. There is an anticyclone over the Tasman Sea. Forecast Winds.—Moderate southerly winds. Weather.—Cloudy and cold. Further Outlook.—Fair. TIMARU RECORDS Sun rises at Timaru to-day 7.30 a.m.; sets 5.48 p.m. High water at Timaru to-day 9.22 a.m.; 9.47 p.m.
CHEERLESS DAY Overcast and misty, yesterday was cheerless. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 44.1. Min. temperature on grass: 39.4. Wind: Nil. Rainfall: 0,58 inch. Rainfall to date this year: 25.59in5. Rainfall to date last year: 17.0 ins. Sunshine: Nil. Sunshine to date this year: 1148.6 hrs Sunshine to date last year: 1065.6 hrs IN OTHER CENTRES Temuka.—Yesterday was cold with a drizzling south-east rain. The maximum temperature was 46 degrees and the minimum 41. There were .49 inches of rain. The glass was rising last evening.
