Friendly Societies. A decrease in the membership of friendly societies in New Zealand is shown in the annual report of the registrar of friendly societies, Mr G. E. Bradley. The number of members of 915 lodges at the end of 1944 is shown as 85.091. compared with 88,007 in 1943. when an even larger decrease was reported. Total funds of societies and branches are shown as £6.018,831. the average capital a member 'being £7O 14 8.
