Sitting Adjourned A sitting of the Canterbury Rural Land Sales Committee held In Timaru yesterday Was interrupted by the receipt of the false peace news; when the Committee promptly adjourned. The sitting arranged for to-day has been cancelled, and the Committee will probably resume tire Timaru hearing on Monday. The chairman (Mr W. H. Nicholls) presided, and associated with him were Messrs W. O. Rennie. B. S. Robertson and H. M. Rawson (Crown representative) . Approval was sought to the lease of 214 acres 3 roods at Geraldine with five-roomed house, dairy and washhouse, shearing shed and yards, men's hut and tractor shed, for five years from August 20. 1945. at a rental of £9O payable half-yearly (in arrear) on February 20 and August 20. lessee to pay rates, insurance and land tax. with option to purchase at expiration for £l5 an acre, i.e. £3236'5/0. The application was granted in respect of the leasehold term and the option to purchase approved on account -of special circumstances. Approval was sought to the sale of a 50-ycar-old wooden cottage on 1 rood at King Street. Timaru. at £5OO. Tile District Valuer (Mr J. J. Kepple) valued the property at £420. The sale was granted subject to reduction in the price by consent to £450. Consent was sought to the sale of a half share of an agricultural and pastoral farm of 271 acres 3 roods 36 perches at Waimatc. with a fourroomed dwelling at £3400.
