Clothing For Europe In response to an urgent appeal by the Geraldine Red Cross Committee, the Boy Scouts, Cubs and Girl Guides made a. house-to-house canvass on Saturday for clothing for devastated Europe. The response was remarkably good, more than 900 garments in excellent condition being secured. As they were received at the Red Cross depot, a willing band of helpers, under the supervision of Mrs Orbell, sorted and packed them ready for immediate shipment to Europe. The members of Toe H gave valuable assistance in preparing coses and getting them ready for dispatch.

Frosts Continue A frost of 141 degrees was registered by Mr A. J. Blakiston at Raukapukn yeslcrday morning. School Attendance There was a marked improvement in the attendance at the primary department of the Goraidine District Hkh School yesterday, when nearly 90 per cent, of the pupils on the roll were present. This department of the .school will remain open. The attendance at the secondary and intermediate departments has now almost reached lhe full roll numbers. Mr P. M. McKenzie, chairman of the District High School Committee, interviewed the members of the Canterbury Education Board at its meeting in Christchurch in connection with ina t ters a fleeting the school.
