THREE ARRESTS MADE

Burglary At Hastings iN.Z.P.Af HASTINGS. July 23. The office safe in the butchery ol Mr J. B. Fletcher was removed last evenins and after hems’ opened and rifled was subsequently thrown into the Ngaruroro River near the Pakowhai bridge. The police recovered portion of the missing money, but the safe is i ill in the river. It was learned that one of Mr Fletcher's delivery vans had been used to convey the safe from the ■shop Apparently the safe had been taken to a vacant, section and the back had been broken open with a cold chisel and hammer. According to information in possession of the police it was thru taken to the river and dumped. Mr Fletcher was unable to say the exact amount in the safe but there was a 150 war bond and books and papers. At a sitting of the Magistrates (’curt this morning. Fraser Morre'i Thomas, a butcher's assistant, aged 11. Kenneth Raymond Cudby. a machinist, .ice,l lit. and Kenneth John Forster, a farmhand, aged 18. appeared before JR. ami were jointh charged that on July 22. at Hastings, they did break into the shop of J. B Fletcher and commit theft. They were remanded for a week
