Japanese Prepare Troops Move To Coast By Telegraph—N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright <6.30 Dm.) CHUNGKING. July 21. The Japanese moved 100,000 troops from Hanan to Shantung province last month in anticipation of American landings, said a Chinese Army spokesman (MajorGeneral Chi Chih Kuo). Others were transferred to the coast from North China. The Japanese had 1.000.000 troops concentrated in North China, and at nerve centres where it is expected they will put up suicide stands, he said. The Chungking correspondent of the Associated Press states that Washington dispatches indicate that imminent invasion is improbable, as the First Army, re-deployed from Europe, is not expected to arrive before December. The Chinese High Command has announced that Chinese troops from Tinpakhsien, nearing Yeungkong, finr.lv hold 50 miles of coast line for an invasion. The Chinese captured the important road junction of Laipo, 65 miles east of Liuchow. and also Yiyanghsien, the controlling point in the Japanese waterways south of Lake Tungting. New gains have been made by the Chinese In their drive on Kweilin, one column being only' 15 miles from this big air base. Laipo. on the Kweilin-Liuchow highway. was recaptured by Chinese forces on July 16. says a Chungking communique. Chinese troops are now pushing forward toward Yangso. The citv of Yungfu is besieged and being attacked by Chinese. Yiyang, in Huna province, was recaptured by our troops on July 16. Our troons advancing from the area east of Tiiipan reached the vicinity of Yeungking. and are now engaging the enemy’ in battle. In the area west of Thaiho and in the vicinity of Wanan our forces are engaged in fierce battles
