Ministerial Statement (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 22. "My attention has been drawn to a Press Association message concerning a statement macle by Mr A. T. Honeyfield, manager of the Auckland branch of the Internal Marketing Division, concerning the supply of potatoes and to a statement issued by the New Zealand Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants’ Federation upon the same subject," said the Minister of Marketing (the Hon. B. Roberts). "The position is that the statement referring to the potato shortage was published in Auckland on Monday, and Mr Honeyfield’s statement was for the purpose of amplifying and clarifying the steps which are being taken to remedy the position, and he reports that it was not published with the intention of reflecting upon the services which have already been given by members of the Federation. The Governme’i: and the Federation are working itw.ether to relieve the shortage and to lay plans of operation for nex year’s pt eduction of potatoes."
