Horseflesh If Required (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON. July 19. Inquiry was being made in England at present as to whether she required horseflesh, said Mr Lloyd Hammond | (Feilding) a member of the Meat I Board at the annual conference of the I New Zealand Farmers’ Union to-nieht, i That might sound repugnant in New I Zealand, but inquiries were being made in this country as to the feasibility of a supply should it be required. He was i speaking to a remit that as a war measure the meat schedules be construed to provide that all first grade I lamb and mutton be paid for at the I highest schedule rates irrespective of I weight Delegates said that England wanted I every pound of meat. i Another delegate said that they I had three years of their contract to run. and must look to the post-war market. Mr Hammond replied that even at ! their own cost they must supply Engi land with all they could. He was con- | vinccd that within 10 years they would l be on a quota which would be adI justed on the basis of what was being supplied before such quota. j The remit was carried.
