Spreading Communist Philosophy (7.30 n.m.) WASHINGTON. July 19. Mr J. E. Rankin, Democratic member of Hie House of Representatives, told the House that the Secretary for War (Mr 11. L. Stimson), the Under-Secretary for War (Mr Robert P. Patterson), and the Assistant-Secretary (Mr John J. McCloy) should be removed from office, because “they are using their offices to indoctrinate men with Communistic ohilosophy.” He added that the House Committee on un-American activities was constantly receiving profi ts from soldiers that these officials were responsible for commissioning Communists.
