H.M.A.S. AUSTRALIA

London’s Tribute (Rec. 7.30 p.m.) LONDON. July 17. London crowds to-day paid a tribute to the officers and crew of H.M.A.S. Australia, as they marched through the City to the Guildhall as guests of the Lord Mayor and Corporation. They marched with fixed bayonets, a rare privilege, specially granted for the occasion. Only six regiments, which have the Freedom of the City, have the right to march through the City with drums beating and with bayonets fixed. The Lord Mayor, al. the Guildhall, proposing the health of the crew of the H.M.A.S. Australia, said: “I would say to all of you. tell Australia that we shall never forget the way in which our Australian kinsmen rallied round Hie Mother Country in her hour of peril.’’
