Tait) and Mr A. C. Martin, secretary to ths Timaru High Schools Board of Governors. Tire evidence stated that Mr Innes had been appointed to the High School staff in February. 1939. In May. 1942. he had joined the instructional staff of the R.N.Z.A.F. at Wigram where he had since been stationed. Mr Innes’ position had been advertised but there had been no male applicants, and women teachers had filled the vacancy. He taught mathematics and science, and was required to assist ill many activities, games, sports, etc., which could not be undertaken by women teachers holding a temporary position. Other decisions were as follows: Release from R.N.Z.A.F. recommended: Arthur G. Turner, farm worker (Ena Turner, Geraldine). Release from R.N.Z.A.F. recommended for three months: Lawrence J. Blair, electrical apprentice (South Canterbury Power Board). Adjourned sine die: George Charles Williams, lorry driver and assistant at by-products works.
