Death Of Mr F. Wilding IN.Z.P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH. July 5. ! The death is announced of Mr Frederick Wilding, New Zealand's I senior King's Counsel, who had a record of more than 60 years' active legal practice commencing in Christchurch in 1880.
Born in Montgomeryshire, Wales, Mr Wilding was educated at Shrewsbury School. He was one of the best all-round athletes in Herefordshire, which he represented at cricket, and played Rugby for West of England with conspicuous success. He was a first-class oarsman, sprinter and ‘ennis player. Admitted a barrister in 1874. he came to New Zealand six years later and practised law in Christchurch. He was made a King's Counsel in 1923. He played tennis with great success being (with R. W. Harman' five times doubles champions of New Zealand. In 1906 he partnered his son, Anthony Wilding, in doubles at Prague. He was president of the Canterbury Cricket Association for some years till 1923. He is survived by two" sons and one daughter.
