RUGBY COMPETITIONS
Sir,—Tire Management Committee of the South Canterbury Rugby Union is trulv amusing. They wish to arouse interest in Rugby by inviting former players to Fraser Park. If they would but shake, the grass of this ground from over their eyes and look at the grades for. players under 18 years of age (hence not subject to Army callup) they would see an ominous state of affairs. ’ The fourth grade for players between 16 and 18 years of age has four teams from the secondary schools as has been usual for many years, but onlv one team from a town club. Has Timaru only 15 players of this age outside the schools? This is the grade to which the Rugby Union should turn its attention or the former players will witness only imaginary games on Fraser Park. —I am, etc.. FOURTH GRADER.
