ECONOMIC PROBLEMS
Emergency Committee For Europe LONDON, May 28. A meeting of Allied representatives was held in London on Monday under the chairmanship of Mr Richard Law to discuss the desirability of setting up at once an Emergency Economic Committee for Europe. The committee’s purpose would be to consult on economic questions of common interest arising in the period immediately following the cessation of hostilities in Europe, especially those affecting production and the distribution of supplies in European countries in relation to the flow of Supplies from overseas.
In the hope that all the European Allies will be ready to co-operate in the work of such an organisation, the Governments of Belgium,’ France Greece, Luxembourg, the Netherlands’ Norway. Turkey, the United Kingdom and tiie United States have agreed to set up a provisional committee which other European Allies can join as soon as they are ready.
