BREACH WIDENED
Labour And Party Executive
(7.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE. May 30. The alleged rift between the Federal Parliamentary Labour Party and the Federal Executive of the Party has been widened by an action of the executive. The executive has pledged its support for the demands made recently by the Australian Council of Trades Unions, which the Federal Ministers mostly rejected. The demands were for the implementation of the industrial plan decided upon at the 1943 Labour Conference. This plan included the introduction of a 40-hour week six months after the war, easing of the wage-pegging regulations, relaxation of war taxes, fixation of a higher basic wage and the provision of two weeks’ sick leave and two weeks' annual holiday leave in all awards.
