Robbery With Violence (N.Z.P.A.) AUCKLAND. Apr. 19. The story of how a young man was struck on the head with a beer bottle, robbed and then tied by the hands and feet was told in the Magistrate's Court this morning, when Desmond Trevor Jury, aged 21 and William Lawrence Moffitt, aged 22. were jointly charged before Mr F. H. Levien, S.M.. with robbing Walter John Timmins of 30/in money and a tin of tobacco, and with using violence at the time of the robbery. Timmins, in evidence, said he met the accused when he left a dance hall at Avondale on the night of March 24. When he went up the road to get some beer he was hit on the head. After his money had been taken his arms were tied with his own belt, his feet being tied with a tie belonging to one of the accused. Cross-examined, complaintant said accused were affected by drink. Accused pleaded guilty and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
