ENJOYABLE CONCERT

Piping And Dancing Association The South Canterbury Piping and Dancing Association was responsible for a most enjoyable concert, which took place at the Little Playhouse on Tuesday evening. Mr J. Glass, secretary of the Association, congratulated Messrs E. Fairbrother and D. Bruce sfor organising the concert so well and for their hard work. He also complimented the artists for the high standard of their performances. The following contributed to the programme:—Piano and piano accordion item, Miss and Mr Perham; tap dance, Betty Keenan; Highland Fling. P. Eastwood, P. Lane and G. Whitehouse; song, Miss L. Williams; operatic dance, B. Purdom; cornet solo, Mr T. Taylor; sean triubhais, C. Parker; song, Mi' G. Brownie; string quartet, Messrs Linton, Smith, Teraki and Toby; song, Master Latimer; ballet, Miss D. Lyne’s pupils; recitation, M. Mather; magician, Mr Robinson; tap dance, Des Hill; song. Valda Fairbrother; character dance, S. Marshall; verse speaking, Mrs Lyne’s School; song, Miss Williams; violin, Miss Smith; song, Peggy O’Shea; Sean Triubhais, B. Davidson; Irish Jig', Fay Hedley; clog dance, M. Frame; sailor’s hornpipe, Ann Bowden. The accompanists for the evening were Mrs McGavin. Miss McDonald and Piper D. Cormack.
