THIS SEASON’S PRODUCTION At New Zealand freezing works from October 1 to January 13 lamb production totalled 2,372,342 carcases compared with 2,590,021 during the corresponding period of the previous season. Wether mutton killings were 111.317 (29,731); ewes 82.792 (39.490); beef 60,229 quarters (1384); boneless beef freight carcases 67.317 (52,595'; and bobby veal 58,348 freight carcases compared with 57,650. Pork killings are not available. Average killing weights to January 13, with comparative details in parentheses, were: Lambs, North Island, 35.131 b (33.93); South Island, 36.871 b (34.67); Dominion, 35.411 b (34.10). Wethers: North Island. 64.391 b (59.58); South Island. 60.231 b (50.26): Dominion. 64.261 b (59.32); ewes. North Island. 60.041 b (57.12); South Island, 56.451 b (50.96); Dominion. 59.831 b (56.60). The killings in the North and South Island to January 13, with comparative figures in parentheses, were: North Island—Lambs 1.992,026 (1,985,252); wethers 107,865 (28,918); ewes 77,973 (36.137).
