MORVEN
Annual School Concert The Morven Hall was filled to capacity when the school children gave their annual concert. Mr R. Allnut, on behalf of the Scljool Committee, thanked Miss Wright, who had acted as pianist and congratulated the chilren and the teachers on the excellent programme they had presented. . During the evening opportunity was taken to say farewell to Miss Patterson, who has been relieving infant mistress for the last term of this year. Miss Jean Brown made a small presentation to the departing guest and Miss Patterson suitably replied. Dancing was enjoyed during the latter part of the evening and a competition was won by Miss P. Marshall. Picnic At Timaru This year the Morven School picnic was held at Timaru. Although rain was falling when the train left Morven, by the time Timaru was reached the sun was shining brightly and many of the children were able to enjoy a bathe. Luncheon was held on the Bay, where members of the School Committee served pies, sandwiches arfd cakes to the children and their parents. During the afternoon some of the children took the opportunity of visiting the shops, and others patronised the many attractions on the Bay. On the homeward journey sweets were distributed to the children and a competition was won by Mr R. Keen. Tennis Dance A successful tennis dance was held in the hall recently. Music was supplied by an orchestra and Mr Hollamby was M.C. A lucky spot waltz was won by Miss M. Horsnell and Mr F. Green, and a Monte Carlo waltz by Miss June Patrick and Mr Bob Wilds. The competition for the cake was won by Mr Philp.
