GERALDINE COUNTY COUNCIL ROAD OPEN FOR TRAFFIC VY7INCHESTER - HANGING ROCK W MAIN HIGHWAY is now open for traffic, but extreme care is necessary in passing through the Pipe Clay Cutting. J. R. HAWCRIDGE, County Engineer. CROWN TENANTS T AM a candidate for the Canterbury 1 Land Board, and with a policy which, after all, is the acid test, so please refer to this when recording your vote. I advocate and believe:— (1) That Returned Servicemen should be helped to have homes of their own on the land if they so desire, financed soundly, and started as soon as experience and ability allows. (2) That a Minister of Lands should only be a recognised successful man from the land. (3) That Crown Rentals should be adjusted where necessary to the changing conditions and that long tenures be given. (4) That at least there should be two elective members of Land Boards. (5) That a halt should be called to the further loading of charges on the land. (6) That, if elected, I would consider it my duty to pay a visit during my term of office to different parts of the Province to contact Crown Tenants, R.S.A. Associations and others interested. ALSO: I have been nominated by a Returned Serviceman from this war. My family have been continuous Crown Tenants for more than 80 years. I have farmed on both high and low country as well as having had experience in a Mercantile Firm, and with this behind me can confidently claim to be able to deal with problems which would come before me if elected. Yours faithfully, D. W. M. BURNETT. TEMUKA NOTICES WINCHESTER A SOCIAL and Presentation will be tendered to A.C.I Bruce Ferguson and Driver Frank Russell, and also a Welcome Home given to Sergeant J.
