BAY LIGHTING

Sir,—Since so much extra lighting has been installed on the Bay and generally in the Borough, it would be appropriate if tire entrance to the Bay via Virtue Avenue were more suitably illuminated. There will probably be a big influx of campers and visiting motorists to Timaru this year because of the increased fuel ration, and the Bay naturally enough will be the greatest attraction. However, the entrances at both ends are poorly lit at present. It would be advantageous if suitable lighting were installed for Christmas and New Year along that stretch of highway between the Bay Hall and the overhead bridge. At present it is almost in total darkness. With increased lighting all danger to life and limb would be eliminated. The present meagre system constitutes a potential danger.—l am. etc., INCREASED LIGHTING. CORRESPONDENTS ANSWERED R. W. ANDERSON: Reciprocated.
