HUNTER
School Concert To mark the break-up of the school year, a successful concert and dance was held in the Hunter Hall on Friday evening. The concert was contributed by the children under the leadership of the teacher, Miss M. Scott. The programme was as follows:—Songs, primers and standards; play, “Three Tasks,” standards; recitations, Valerie Englebrecht, Jimmy Tiffen, Doris Woods, Richard Gould, Allan Gibson, Colin Henderson, Muriel Peck and James Shepherd. Other plays presented during the evening were: “Awkward Squad,” seniors; “The Secret,” standards; “Happy Man,” primers. Songs were sung by Agnes Henderson and Miss Anne Kerr (Timaru) and a ’cello solo was contributed by Mr Dix, of Waimate. Mr W. L. Henderson chairman of the School Committee, thanked those present for their support and stated that the school picnic would be held at an early date at the school, when the prizes would be presented. Dancing was enjoyed during the latter part of the evening, Mr f. McNeill acting as M.C. Music was supplied by Mr T. Taylor, extras being played by Miss J. McKenzie and L.A.C. C. Cochrane. Personal Miss Ailccn Hansen, of Dunedin, is spending the school vacation with her parents, Mr and Mrs N. M. Hansen. Mr Bruce Horsburgh and Miss M. Horsburgh are spending the school vacation with their parents. Mr and Mrs J. Horsburgh. Teschemakers.
