LOST BY FIRE

Seven Bags Of Mail (N.Z.P.A.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 29. Seven bags of mail were destroyed by fire on the platform of the Stillwater railway station early this morning, reports the Director-General of the Post Office (Mr J. G. Yqung). The mails comprised two bags Christchurch to Nelson, two bags Dunedin to Nelson, one bag Christchurch to Murchison, one parcel bag Christ,church to Westport and one parcel bag Dunedin to Westport. In addition one Christchurch to Westport bag, which included some air mail from Auckland, was scorched, but the contents are believed to be deliverThe mails had just been unloaded at the Stillwater station from a train on to a truck when they burst into flames. Two bags, Dunedin to Westport and one bag Christchurch to Westport were saved.
