WEATHER SOUTH CANTERBURY FORECAST
UNSETTLED The following is the forecast for South Canterbury issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the period ending 5 p.m. to-day:— General Situation. —A depression is moving south-eastward off the North Island, but there is a weak anti-cyclone over the Southern Tasman Sea. : Winds. —Moderate to fresh : southerly winds. Weather.—Cloudy to overcast with some occasional rain; tempe-ratures colder. A FINE DAY Yesterday was fine early, turning cold in the afternoon. Following are the records taken at Timaru Park for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday. with the exception of the maximum temperature and sunshine for the day, which were taken at 7 p.m.:— Max. temperature in shade: 65.8. Min. temperature on grass: 33.4. Frost; Nil. Wind: Nil. Rainfall: Nil. Rainfall to date this year: 18.97in5. Rainfall to date last year: 17.58in5. Sunshine: 4.5 hours. Sunshine to date this year: 1293.2hr5. Sunshine to date lust year: 1383.7hr5. IN OTHER CENTRES Waimate (for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. yesterday).— Barometer, 29.4; thermometer, maximum 72, minimum 46; bright sunshine, 5 hours 24 minutes; wind gauge, miles run in last 24 hours, 85. Yesterday was sunnv and warm.
