RECORD TERM
Mr Curtin In Office
(Rec. 7.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, Oct. 2. Mr J. Curtin has completed nine years in office as Leader of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Labour Party. This is a record term. There have been only seven leaders of the party since federation. The late Mr
Andrew Fisher was leader for eight years and Mr J. H. Scullin for seven and a half years. This week Mr Curtin will complete three years as Prime Minister. His Government has seen only one change in personnel since he took office. The change occurred when the Minister for Information, Mr A. A. Caldwell, defeated the former Minister of Transport, Mr G. Lawson, at a ballot which followed the last elections.
